2011 - Saturday 5th February - Harwell
H factor
We
entered a crack team to the H-FACTOR at Harwell Village Hall and won joint
second place. Our
prize was £15. This
was a fund-raising talent show in aid of Harwell Scouts and Harwell village
hall fund. Josh, Ben,
Lissa, Jess, Lisa and Alan represented Lumbawakk with a fabulous
Rapper display. Jess drove the Coxes and Bruniers and they arrived
at the hall at 7pm amidst cries of 'are we nearly there yet?' and 'I
need the toilet'. The evening started at 7.30pm with Lumbawakk standing
at the back of the hall rather than being crammed in a room with lots
of little people. They were the 10th of
14
five-minute
acts.
At around
9pm there'll was a 20 minute interval during which people were sensible
enough to vote for us. The Didcot contingent then went home to check
up in their parents who were nearly all enjoying a home cooked Indian
feast at the Coxes. Hazel had been cycling that day and was suffering.
Josh, Ben and their parents thoroughly enjoyed every minute
of the
1 hour
play - an adaptation of "The
Little Prince" performed
by MAD Studio - a Harwell based childrens' drama group apparently 'with
songs and dance
routines
of their own making'. Enraptured is the word that springs to mind. Then
the results were announced - the winner was a lad singing "Consider
Yourself"
and we drew for 2nd place with someone singing "Smile". Spectator
prices for the evening were £7
for adults, £5 for concessions. Josh then phoned the Squires to
share the good news. Sounds of champagne corks popping were heard in
Lumbawakk
homes all over Didcotshire for the whole night. Well done lads and lasses.

you took photos, please send them to us - 1000 pixels wide is
a nice size if you're not sure what we like! Or even video...
