2011 Saturday 12th March - Earth Trust near Long Wittenham, Didcot

We spent a lovely sunny Spring afternoon out at the Earth Trust courtesy of Jane Carpenter and Jayne Manley. We had a half hour spot and danced our little socks off, or in George's case, his hat, again!

Panda arrived in the nick of time to do Tinners Rabbit - half way through our allotted dancing time - which delighted the pair of volunteer spectators who had been trying to dance a three person dance on their own!. And it's all Hazel's fault...(?) She had sent an email telling us all to "meet there at 2.15pm for a dancing spot between 2 and 2.30pm" and had corrected the error verbally the night before at Cubs. But Panda did not listen. And Panda did not use his brain.Silly Panda. So Thierry had to do the somersault in rapper (oh yeah?) and Josh and Simon and Lissa subbed in for his other dances. We were all happy that Panda was not "Gone" but "'Ere".

We then muscled in on Dot's bus and George enjoyed playing with Roger. Hazel influenced George to teach Roger how to pick his nose and eat it - recycling! Mokey had a quick kiss with Roger! We all liked Dot's bus.

Our members there were Ben, George, Simon, Joanne, Sue, Jess, Josh, Sally, Lissa, Lisa, Thierry, Hazel, John, Diana, Alan, Minkey, Mokey and Panda. Dot, Keith, Malcom and Anita were there in support and photographic roles and Sarah Lawful stalked!

Jacobs Ladder with Lisa & Lissa, Sally & George, Simon and Jess, Ben and Joanne, Josh and Sue.  This was Joanne and Georges first Outdoor Appearance following their spectacular first Indoor Appearance at Cubs the previous night.

It was a nice sunny day - though it looks miserable here.
There were coachloads of spectators - all on the slope Malcom the photographer was on!

Fairy Dance with Thierry wearing his very airbrushed black Lumbawakk shoes...

Hazel and Alan played their very new Double Musician set for Rapper - Lass of Killiecrankie, Scattery Island, New Rigged Ship, Willow Express (by Chris Shaw) and Sweets of May.

Josh and Ben doing particularly fine synchronised wide-leg sidestepping as we go into Reins.

Josh nearly collapsed with backache dancing with two brave young lads - one of which dug a good sized hole in the car park using his stick.

The spectators from the grass slope were more than willing to have a go - we had 12 groups of 3 for the dance made up of 2 spectators with a Lumbawakker. This the the dance Panda arrived half way through!

Noughts and crosses was our final dance as the Epsteins started their concert in the courtyard. Here are the blues on the outside dancing on the inside during Magic Roundabout...

... and here are the reds on the inside dancing on the inside during Magic Roundabout. Ben called this dance brilliantly.

Just admire our our fab band line-up for a minute or two - swelled by Joanne and Panda stick bashing.

On Dot and Emma's purple Wild Waste Bus there were loads and loads of interesting things - like the door curtain made of string and bottle tops to keep the pests outside. Here it is - in action! Sorry Thierry!!

Suits you Sir! Panda with a newspaper hate and a handbag made out of recycled platic wrappers. And is that really our very own George on the poster advertising brocolli?

Here's George teaching Roger to pick his nose! Hang on, is that the hand on George's side or Hazel's? Hmmmm.....

Diana & John made their first Outdoor Appearance as Lumbawakk Musicians at this event. The music only blew away once thanks to heavy duty pegs.
Their first Indoor Appearance was the night before at Cubs.

The only injury brought to our attention was Thierry got bitten by a fly on the way to the car park. Here it is on Sunday - red, swollen and sore. Sympathy chocolates welcome!

Monday: redder, more swollen and sorer. His fingers, wrist and palm of hand have all started to swell. Nowhere else... Doctor 8.30am prescribed 6 steroid tablets a day as well as antihistamine tablets, cream and pain killer for 5 days! Will he ever be able to play the guitar again? Wednesday. Swelling is going down well - wedding ring back on and playing the guitar again. Thierry thinks steroids are rather good - he cycled one mile an hour faster on steroids than normally! Sunday - all swelling gone and he's back to almost normal.

This was a violent, unprovoked attack on one of our team and the offence officially carries the death penalty - so if you see the fly or a fly that might have been the fly you should definitely kill it!

And Jess was attacked too - her arm spontaneously started bleeding in the Fairy Dance and she was left with a red lump. Then Dot reported ten bites on her trunk which were itchy and very visible on Thursday - though these don't really count because she wasn't dancing. Did you know Dot had a trunk?
