Here are some videos and photos from the Abingdon Air Show - a day that started with a shower and got sunnier and sunnier. The photographs are all below the videos.

Members present: Minkey and Mokey, Thierry, Lissa, Alan, Hazel, Simon, Sue, Lisa, Sally, Sid, Lynda, Joanne, Ben, Panda, George and Helen with Neil and Malcom accompanying.

THE SKIES above Abingdon were graced by the last airworthy Avro Vulcan bomber as it made its first air show appearance this year.

Vulcan XH558, which was built to carry Britain’s nuclear deterrent during the Cold War, starred at the 12th annual Abingdon Air and Country Show, at the Dalton Barracks airfield on Sunday, May 8 2011.

It was the first time the former Royal Air Force jet, which is now privately owned, has flown over the town for 21 years.

The Vulcan was retired from RAF service in 1993 and the "Vulcan to the Sky Trust" was formed to preserve it.

It was quite windy - some people thought it was the space-ships landing. How ridiculous. As if...

Fairy Dance - in perfect posture, perfect lines, perfect time...

Fairy Dance - hey!
Going Mauve, Minkey gives a cheeky smile to the camera while Lisa sticks with Billy. "Mouse over" to see a close-up!

Windy again, but the coats stayed on.
More spaceships or a passing elephant?

Go Mauve - now that is a nice line in the making.

Monkeys join in the HOY - but seem to be soooo heavy that Lissa and Lisa's arms are struggling to get up straight!

Jacobs Ladder in full sticking glory!

Jacob's Ladder

Here's Hazel looking at the Extra Terrestrials rather than our dancers...

Yes, creatures even came from other planets to watch us dance and have their photographs taken with us.

Chewbacca the Wookiee, an immense, fur covered warrior of great strength and loyalty, a well-known figure in both the underworld and in the Rebel Alliance, took a major dislike to Sid! Or was he waving? Hard to tell...

Jacobs Ladder with Mokey multitasking - watching the sticking very carefully... and smiling at Minkey.

Thierry checks his watch. Thinks "We've done four dances and it's still only 3.15pm. We'll pad out with some music as we've only one dance left to do!"

So Hazel, Alan and Thierry do Morpeth Rant and LNB Polka while our dancers catch their breath.

Thierry checks his watch again. It still says 3.15pm. Doh - it has stopped!!! It's really 3.26pm. Quick do the last dance before our slot finishes at 3.30pm...

George tried on hats...

George tried on hats...

Hazel managed to achieve the impossible - fitting Georges hair in his bandana. It stayed ON for the whole of the second Arena spot at 3pm.

Thierry helped George pose for another photograph...

Helen - at her first occasion out with us - did well, and is definitely welcome any time!

Mokey and Minnie.

Then we watched airoplanes - and Ben can tell us what every plane is... this is a CASA 1.133C Jungmeister. The letters on the side say G-OUTX. Wonder what that could stand for - any ideas?

The grand finale was this amazing Vulcan. People travel round the country to see it. It's a big triangular plane that can fly quietly or loudly, fast or slow and nearly disappears when it flies away from you - see the video of it at the top of this page.

OMG! Simon got a Sid-Line - his day of bandana-wearing protected his head, but boy look at that sunburned face!
How very embarrassing.
